06-30-10 | BEWARE OF EBAY There are many people joining the frenzy of trying to buy and sell Modern Chinese coins. Many of these people are what I call opportunists. They ask ridiculous prices hoping to get someone interested. Since most people are looking for a bargain, it is only natural to ask for a lower price. The buyer forgets or does not realize the coin is way overpriced, they are more concerned with the large discount from the original asking price. So if a coin is listed for $19,000 and the buyer is able to purchase for $16,000, they think they made a great purchase when in reality, the coin was only worth $11,000. I know there are many sellers "Going Fishing" for the person who has no clue what to pay. Do not be a victim - Call us. We have up to date pricing and knowledge for almost every great Modern Chinese coin. Please remember, we actually own our coins and we have the largest inventory of rare, authenticated, Modern Chinese coins in the United States. Click to continue reading. 08-1-10 | KNOW YOUR DEALER PART 2 I have received many comments about this blog. It is incredible to read and listen to all of the bad stories people wanted to share. Not receiving the coins they purchased, not recieving the proper quality of coins represented, not being allowed to return coins they were not happy, not being issued refunds in a timely fashion, etc.... There was one common thread between almost everyone who called or emailed - EBAY. My best advice is to work with a dealer who is reputable and well known. A real dealer. A dealer who is active in the numismatic community. Not some person with some coins to sell so they list on ebay. A dealer who specializes in the area you are interested. A dealer who travels to shows, sets up at shows, makes the news in Coin World or other numismatic publication, a person who owns their inventory, is the leader in their field, member of associations like the PNG ( Professional Numismatists Guild ) and authorized dealers with NGC and PCGS. Verify their information. If you choose to make a purchase because you thought you were getting a great deal, think again. I tell everyone, a great deal is the opportunity to purchase a great coin at a fair price. If you are purchasing way under the market value, you can bet there is something wrong. Don't be a victim. We were constantly jammed with questions and people who were amazed at the Modern Chinese Coins we had in our cases. Many of these had never been displayed in the US. We specialize in the Modern Chinese coins no one else has or can get. We consistently pay the higherst prices because we feel this segment of the market is so grossly undervalued that we can't help but to purchase eveything in demand. Unicorns are HOT!
